When I was an 18 year old freshman attending Florida International University in Miami, I did something that will likely (forever) remain one of the most spontaneous things that I will ever do. On a Wednesday night, I was bored in my dorm room browsing Expedia for cheap flights (just out of curiosity) and I came across the best deal I have ever seen. For $450, with all taxes and fees included, I could fly round trip from Miami, Florida to Venice, Italy for 6 days. The only catch was that the flight departed in 12 hours, on Thursday morning. I was immediately excited and knew that I wanted to go, because travel is one of my favorite things in life, but I had no one to go with. Fortunately, my roommate had a friend over at the time who overheard my excitement. His name was Jimmy. This was the first time I had ever met him – but he was equally as crazy as me – so we flipped a coin to decide if we would take the trip or not. The coin flip determined that we would book the flights, and the rest is history. Less than 24 hours later we landed in Venice – having told no family members back home about our travel plans, and having shown complete disregard for the classes we should have been attending. Over the next 5 days we explored the mazes of canals that make up the city, we drunkenly walked out on a $800 bar tab after drinking WAY more than we could afford, we hopped a train to Milan to eat pizza, and we slept on the ground outside in Saint Mark’s Square after missing the last bus to our hotel – which is, by the way, not very comfortable at all in January. HAHA! Needless to say, this was a CRAZY trip. Check some of the photos.

It’s been a while since I made a Flashback entry. If you’re new to my blog, a Flashback post is basically how I share photos from something that took place before I started this blog – usually that something is travel. This time, I will let you take a look at a trip I took to Prague, Czech Republic about 3 years ago. Apologies for the low quality photos – I really need to find where I have stored all of my old photos. I think I might have lost them all, what a shame! Anyways… Prague is definitely one of my favorite cities in Europe. Since this city suffered A LOT less damage during World War 2 than most cities in Europe, all of the architecture is OLD AS FUCK. It’s beautiful. If you follow me on Twitter you would have heard me mention that I was supposed to be back in Prague next week, but my trip got canceled last minute due to a scheduling conflict. Enough of that though – just check the photos.

The last two photos are from when I was strapped into a harness and essentially hung below a helium balloon high above the Vltava River for an amazing view of the city. You probably would’ve never guessed that I’m actually terrified of heights – that doesn’t mean I let it stop me from doing cool shit though!
Most of the “Flashback’ posts I have made so far have been sharing photos from past travels of mine. However, my mom recently uploaded some OLD photos of me to her Facebook – so I took a trip down memory lane. From 2003-2005 I played professional paintball (yes, it exists) and traveled playing tournaments all over the USA… from coast to coast. There are actually leagues like the NPPL and PSP that organize huge tournaments with hundreds of teams and thousands of spectators… it was pretty exciting for a younger me. Also, I was successful in getting my one of my teams into the first ever paintball video game for Xbox. Check out some photos of me playing – these are from when I was splitting my time between a team located in Cleveland, Ohio and another located in St. Louis, Missouri. I would fly up from my house in Costa Rica just for practices.

Thought I would post another “Flashback” to share with y’all a trip I took to Greece a few years back. I lost all of my high resolution photos from this trip so I apologize for the poor quality…. but yeah, Greece is probably one of the hottest places I have ever visited. All of the beaches were amazing and I really enjoyed Mythos, the local beer. Word.

This is my 3rd “Flashback” post. Basically what I do is dig through my archived photos from trips abroad back before this blog was started. Last summer I went to Panama for one week, we stayed on the canal for a couple nights and downtown in the city for a few nights to do some shopping….. which is GREAT down there by the way. Panama has a very hot climate as would be expected in Central America… but it is much more modern and developed than the bordering countries. Probably due to the USA having such a heavy influence there for so many years. Anyways here are some photos… most of them are from when I took a boat tour deep into the jungle to visit a real indigenous tribe that still lives in huts, in solidarity as would be expected hundreds of years ago. This was a very unique experience.

This photo was taken when I did another boat tour passing through the Panama Canal. At this point I was about the enter the canal and pass under the “Bridge Of The Americas”.

And yeah… this was me enjoying the heat at the pool on the roof of my amazing hotel. It was so hot that my iPhone (which I took these photos with) had a heat warning pop up and actually shut itself off.

So…. now that I took you on some “Discovery Channel” type shit…. get back to your weekend and fucking party!
This is the second post in my “Flashback” category. Basically the point behind this is to share photos/video from before I started this blog… because there is a lot of good shit that would be a shame to miss!
Last summer I had a party at my Uncles penthouse in Vancouver. Click HERE to see photos of the place… it’s SICK! Hands down the nicest in Yaletown…probably the entire city. Anyways…check the photos, the guy to girl ratio was PROPER.

With these home videos (see below) surfacing months after the fact, it got me thinking. Just because I wasn’t blogging earlier, doesn’t mean my life wasn’t any less ballin. This will be the first in a new category of posts which I will refer to as “Flashbacks.” Over the next month or two expect to see a lot of vintage AfroToe surfacing on here. Since the videos from Costa Rica were posted below, I will start this off with photos from that trip.

If it seems like I travel a lot, that’s because I do. I have already been to 25 countries across 4 continents and had to get a new passport not because the old one expired but because I ran out of room for stamps. I’ve been racking up frequent flier miles for years so keep checking back and I will share photos from past travels like this.
